25-year old Abigail Rose Tobin, daughter of Diane & Michael Tobin, passed away Monday, June 28. Please pray especially the Divine Mercy Chaplet for Abigail, her two children, and family. Religious Education classes for all grades will resume Sundays from 10:15-11:15am beginning September 12. We need a lead teacher and an assistant for each classroom. The Joy of Tradition Award has been established at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul to recognize members of our parish community who have demonstrated by their life and participation in our parish the joy that our Catholic faith brings. It is a testimony to their exemplary service to various aspects of our faith, and for their enthusiasm in promoting the sacred traditions in liturgy, ministry, and service to our parish. Fr. Carter has named Cathy Palisoc and Clervin Pérez as the 2021 recipients of the Joy of Tradition Award, presented on our parish anniversary weekend of June 27.
Basilica parishioner Geiner Alisandro Villatoro Costanza died on June 20, 2021 when his car was hit by a semi-truck on the interstate. The family will receive friends at the Jim Rush Funeral home in Cleveland, TN, on June 25 from 5pm-8pm and June 26, from 12pm-1:30pm, followed by a private service for the family at 2pm. Geiner's body will be sent to Guatemala for burial in his home country. May Geiner's soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

John Lambiase was born on March 24, 1940 and passed away on June 5, 2021. His funeral will be at the Basilica 10:30am on June 12. He was a lifelong Catholic and was a resident at Alexian Village. May John's soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Genevieve Lonnie Spann Jennings passed into eternity June 3, 2021. A former schoolteacher, Genevieve was a long-time parishioner of Sts. Peter and Paul and is survived by her husband, David Lee Jennings. Public viewing will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2021 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm at John P. Franklin Funeral Home.
