Updates
November 16, 2024: Matt has been discharged from the hospital and is home. Thank you so much for all your prayers! He is supposed to be home from work for at least a week and monitoring his symptoms.
November 12, 2024: Matt Givens' third surgery was a success, thanks be to God! They put a stent in his common bile duct and pancreas. His condition immediately improved. Thank you for everyone's prayers. Please continue to pray for his healing and recovery. November 10, 2024: Matt had a successful gallbladder surgery, but it did not solve the problem. His levels are still rising, and they are not sure why. He is going back in for emergency surgery. They are going to put a stent in to relieve all of the inflammation he has. This is a difficult procedure, and he is at risk for making his pancreatitis worse. They are worried about sepsis for him right now. Please continue to pray for his recovery, and for the Givens family at this time.
November 9, 2024: Please pray for Matt Givens, who had to be hospitalized this week. While undergoing treatment, he has developed pancreatitis and other complications. He is getting better now but is in a great deal of pain, and he will need to have surgery to have his gallbladder removed in the next couple of days. The Givens family asks for prayers for his pain relief, his surgery, and his recovery. Mr. Givens serves the Basilica as a catechist and a youth group volunteer, and he teaches our RCIC program for children becoming Catholic.
