Brother Kevin Doerge first vows with the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius 8/14/23 (see photos)

Brother Kevin Doerge, from our Sts. Peter and Paul parish, has been a Postulant with the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius in Chicago since the summer of 2021. He made his first vows on August 14, 2023. Please pray for Kevin as he began this next step on his journey towards the holy priesthood.

On August 14, 2023, following first Vespers for the Feast of the Assumption, I, along with three other brothers who entered the community in 2021, will be taking vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience as a member of the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius for the first time.  The vows are renewed each year for at least three years until permanent vows can be taken.  I will also be doing a Marian consecration and receiving a rosary and miraculous medal as additions to my habit.  

This will take place during Vespers, and the event is open to the public.  There will be a ceremony to follow in the parish hall.  One brother who is currently in temporary vows will also be renewing his vows for the second time.  We also celebrate the 25th anniversary of the founding of our community on this day.

My specific prayer request would be to pray that I respond to the grace to faithfully live out my vows in imitation of Christ.
