Opportunity for service doing home repair work for a parish family in need:
The King Family
Work Day:
Saturday, June 19 beginning 8:00 am
(not June 12 as originally planned)
Address:
303 McBrien Rd.
Chattanooga, TN 37411
In response to the indwelling, consuming love of God in us, we can only let this love overflow ourselves and wash into the world around us. Scripture reveals that this love must be directed back to God and outward to our neighbor and as Pope Francis reminds us time and again, this love must impel us to care first for those in need.
In His loving kindness, the Lord has provided an opportunity to share His love with one another in service to those in need right here within our Basilica family. This is a call to service for anyone who has any skills, background or willingness to learn in order to rebuild portions of a deck that has become unsafe, to install a new shingle roof, and to do some plumbing work indoors and yard work outdoors.
The work day is currently scheduled for Saturday, June 19th beginning at 8:00 am.
(It has been delayed from June 12, due to the availability of key resources and the start of the insurance policy.)
This is a beautiful opportunity for our Spanish- and English-speaking communities to come together in our shared familial bond in Christ Jesus under this one roof in service to the Kingdom of God.
While this single project provides an organizational pilot, we do not expect this to be the last time we are called together to serve one another and our neighbors! The team that comes together for this is invited to become an apostolate of Basilica parishioners who come together on a more regular basis to provide home repair service to those in need within our parish family and to our neighbors.
